Transitional epithelium

Transitional epithelium supplied with small mucous glands, and a middle, an inner longitudinal and an outer circular layers); these layers are not connected with the musculature of the bladder and prevent urine from flowing from the bladder back into the ureter. At the site where the ureter drains into the bladder is a third, outermost longitudinal muscular layer, which is intimately connected with the muscles of the bladder and contribute to expulsion of urine into the bladder.
