King Tut Lives On in Modern Culture

The infamous King Tut of Egypt may have been popular when he ruled, but it’s safe to say his popularity has only grown since his death and particularly after the discovery of his tomb in 1922. While his body remains inside of his Valley of the Kings tomb in Egypt, exhibits showcasing numerous items from his tomb have spanned the entire globe almost continuously over the last 50 years. One of the best known exhibitions was the “Treasures of Tutankhamen” tour which opened in 1972 and attracted long lines of visitors in every city. This exhibit included views of his solid gold death mask, as well as jewellery, furniture and other items found inside of his tomb. Exhibits launched in 2005, 2008, 2009 and 2010 sparked further fascination, with visitors of all ages flocking to the exhibits in numerous cities throughout the world to catch a glimpse of items the ancient Egyptian items.
